While most British retailers are expecting to start shipping the Sony Xperia Z on March 1, there are a few which say the smartphone could be available on February 28. Yes, that’s only one day earlier, but still – there are probably many customers who can’t wait to get their hands on an Xperia Z.
Handtec is among the retailers that might ship the new smartphone on February 28. Even more, Handtec seems to be the only one to take pre-orders for the Xperia Z (here) asking less than £500 – £497.99, to be exact.
Running Android 4.1 Jelly bean, the Sony Xperia Z is one of the few high-end smartphones to be waterproof and dust-proof. That aside, the device features a 5 inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels, LTE connectivity, dual band Wi-Fi, NFC, 13MP rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, 2.2MP front-facing camera, quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support.
In the next few months (possibly at MWC), Sony should announce its third Android Jelly Bean smartphone for 2013 – this is currently codenamed Xperia HuaShan, and reportedly features a 720p display, as well as a dual-core processor. Overall, the HuaShan will be Sony’s fourth Jelly Bean device this year, as the company has also unveiled the Xperia Z Tablet.
