As NAMCO BANDAI promised just a few days ago, an iOS version of the 1998 classic Soulcalibur is now available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad 2. This new port of the weapon-based fighting game features the full cast of 19 characters from the original version, including favorites such as Kilik, Xianghua and Ivy.
Soulcalibur for iOS features four game play modes:
Arcade Battle: Players engage in a series of intense brawls, defeating every enemy in their path to earn unique ending scenes for each character.
Time Attack: Players slash through enemies to clear the game as quickly as possible
Survival: Players try to defeat as many opponents as possible with a limited amount of life.
Extra Survival: Try it now with single-hit kills.
Additional game play modes are planned, but it’s not clear if they’ll be made available as free downloads or in-app purchases.
SOULCALIBUR fully utilizes the Retina displays on the iPhone and iPod touch platforms, providing vivid, beautiful graphics. The large display of the iPad 2 enables stunning graphics that make the characters and stages look better than ever before.
The 8Way Run system, which allows players to move around freely and quickly on a three-dimensional plane, is faithfully implemented on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad 2. Each character has a variety of unique special moves and new players can readily access character move lists from within the application, allowing them to memorize devastating moves and try them out in combat.
Soulcalibur is a universal app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad 2, and is available now in the App Store at the release sale price of $11.99.
