Prior to the start of March, the One M9 from HTC was one of the most talked about devices around. This, along with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and possible Edge variant (as nothing was confirmed at the time) were two of the most hotly anticipated devices of recent months and as such, were subject to masses of speculation before their official unveilings. Therefore, it seemed somewhat fitting that both of these devices were eventually unveiled and announced at the same event and on the same day.
However, once the two announcements came through, it seemed the anticipation and excitement behind the next generation One device began to tame somewhat. Whether this was due, to what was considered to be a lack of noticeable upgrading from the highly popular predecessor, the One M8, or simply due to the overwhelming excitement that was created by the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was unclear. Either way, when comparing the two, it is not unfair to say that the One M9 came off the worse. Since then a number of reports have came through detailing that HTC have seen a fall in profits and their general outlook was no longer looking so good. This was partly believed to be what was the result of a lack of sales of the HTC One M9.
Well, it now looks like Sprint has discounted the One M9 down to only $99.99 on their network. This is the price on a standard two-year contract and sees the price effectively halving, compared to what it was before the price cut. Whether this is a sign of the lack of significant sales and an attempt to clear some stock or just a sale period remains unclear, although, there doesn’t seem to be any formal announcement about a sale ongoing. Not to mention, AT&T and Verizon both still seem to be pricing the One M9 at the $199.99 price, on a similar two-year contract. Either way, if you are on Sprint and had considered picking up a One M9, then now might be a good time to do so. Click the link below to head over to the Sprint website.
