This post deals with most common HTC EVO 4G errors and problems. Some of issues already have solutions while others only have workarounds.
HTC EVO 4G was one of Sprint’s best-sellers in 2010 with its 1GHz processor and 512 RAM. Reviewers and enthusiasts gave the device good ratings and many U.S. smartphone users, especially those who are under Sprint’s network, are still using the phone today. Others are now about to end their contract with the carrier and maybe planning on getting an upgrade.
Here is a list of the most common errors and problems Sprint customers may have experienced while using HTC EVO 4G.
HTC EVO 4G Blinking Orange Light/Battery Issues
Problem: This issue often occurs when the battery is fried. The phone turns off then an orange/amber light blinks 3 or 4 times. It wouldn’t turn back on even if you spend the rest of the day re-charging your device’s battery. At least, that’s the most common case when the orange light starts blinking. Luckily, though, many users reported it only indicates the battery is completely drained.
Workaround: Unless you go to a Sprint store and have the battery checked and tech says it’s busted, we really cannot know its real condition. However, there are a few workarounds that might just make it work again:
Step 1: Take out the battery and let it sit unused for 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 2: During that time, plug your phone to your computer using the USB cable and press the power button. Let it be for 20 minutes or so.
Step 3: When the battery has rested for half an hour, unplug the phone from your computer and press power button again.
Step 4: Reinsert battery and press power button. Many reported that after doing this, the blinking orange light turns solid.
Step 5: You can now recharge your battery.
HTC EVO 4G Got Wet
Problem: My HTC EVO 4G fell into the sink and got wet. What should I do?
Solution: Water is a mortal enemy of any electronic device. While this problem seldom happens, it is inevitable that owners, sometimes, become careless. Here’s what you can do when this happens.
Step 1: Turn your phone immediately if it’s still powered on.
Step 2: Take the battery off and wipe it with a dry cloth or anything that absorbs liquid. If you have access to a hand blower, you better put it under for a minute or two just keep it dry and avoid short circuit.
Step 3: You can bring your phone to a tech or leave it unused for 2 or 3 days before trying to use it again.
The purpose of this is to make prevent short circuits that may cause many electronic components to get busted. At least, this is the most practical way to do when your device gets wet.
HTC EVO 4G Showing 4 Exclamation Points
Problem: Owners of HTC EVO 4G who have attempted to flash custom ROMs or root their device are mostly the ones that could experience this error. Basically, they are stuck in a black screen with HTC logo in the middle and an exclamation point in every corner.
Workaround: Users are advised to download and install HTC Sync to their computer so necessary drivers will be installed. They need to uninstall the application but leave all drivers in the computer, then connect the phone. Detection will never be a problem here. After all that, they need to run an RUU application. HTC EVO 4G USB Device Not Recognize
Problem: Perhaps, this is the most common problem an HTC EVO 4G user might experience. Owners need to connect their device to a computer when they need to add some files, videos or music to it. Then, this problem shows up.
Solution: This problem occurs because necessary EVO 4G drivers are not installed in the computer. So, users are advised to download HTC Sync and install it to their computer. It brings all drivers for any HTC device. After installation, owners are advised to uninstall it while leaving all drivers in their machine. They can now reconnect their phone to the computer this problem shouldn’t bother them anymore.
HTC EVO 4G Recovery Mode Not Working
Problem: Owners will be stuck in a black screen with red triangle in the center with exclamation point inside when trying to access the recovery console. It occurs only when owners try to root or unlock the bootloader of their device. But basically, this is not an error per se.
Solution: People who rooted their EVO 4G should be seeing this screen because it means that the rooting process was successful. All they need to do is hold VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons to proceed to stock recovery mode. They can now install a custom recovery tool or any apps that need root access.
