The Photon 4G was Motorola’s flagship device on Sprint last year, akin to the Atrix on AT&T (and the specs were almost identical too). But 2011 is now history, so if you’re wondering whether Motorola has something similar planned for Sprint this year, wonder no more.
Apparently there will be a Photon 4G successor launched by Sprint pretty soon. It will unfortunately be called Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE. Or who knows, maybe just Photon 4G LTE (judging from what happened to the HTC Evo 4G LTE).
Aside from the fact that it’s in the works, there are no other details about the Photon Q. The rumored info given to PocketNow is limited to just the name and which device it’s supposed to replace. Of course we can make a few educated guesses about specs though. To be a true successor of the Photon, the new superphone has to be high-end as well. So we can probably expect a 720p HD touchscreen, at least a dual-core processor (if not quad-core), and maybe even a bigger screen size. We’ll let you know when we find out more.
