Sad, but true: the LG Viper, one of Sprint’s first ever 4G LTE devices, was released this April running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Now though, there’s an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the Viper floating through the airwaves, and it’s pretty obvious that you should download and install it as soon as possible.
The official changelog doesn’t mention anything that isn’t a standard feature in ICS, so we’re thinking that LG and Sprint didn’t add anything earth-shattering to what Google has released last year.
After updating, your LG Viper will be running software version LS840ZVI. As usual, this should make its way to you over-the-air. If you haven’t received the notification yet, you can manually check for the update by going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates. Even so, you may not see the update as available yet – in that case, don’t panic, and try again later (or in a couple of days). These releases are being done in stages.
