The Samsung Galaxy S II is finally about to be launched in the US, in different versions for each of the major carriers of course (just like what happened with its predecessor, the original Galaxy S). As for Sprint’s variant, we first heard that it would be called the Samsung Within, but subsequently that got changed to Samsung Epic 4G Touch (presumably since Epic 4G was quite a good brand).
However, today we’re hearing, via SprintFeed, that Sprint’s Galaxy S II will in fact be called Samsung Epic Touch 4G. Not a dramatic shift compared to what we previously heard, that’s for sure, but one to note, anyway.
The Samsung Epic Touch 4G may be released on September 9. That is a Friday, which would mean that Sprint will break its usual pattern of releasing new devices on Sundays. However, that particular Sunday is the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, so perhaps not the best date for new gadget launches.
Of course, this is just a rumor right now, so view it with the required pinch of salt nearby. Apparently though, Sprint will be the first of the major US carriers to get its very own Galaxy S II.
There are no details about pricing at the moment, but we’ll let you know as soon as we find out anything on the subject.
