Behold fellow geeks! Finally, fusing the finest films ever made about a dysfunctional space family with the coolest of the ball-bashing-based arcade games, Star Wars Pinball has arrived for Android, bringing balance to the OS Force…
Whilst I still have unresolved issues with George Lucas for inflicting his Bantha poodoo prequels on us, my love of the original trilogy remains unblemished (actually, if I’m completely honest I could have done without the Ewoks), but taking an all-inclusive, unbiased approach to its app, Zen Studios has, quite rightly, taken content from all six movies and crafted a pinball player more powerful than any of the Sith George threw at us.
And I do mean ‘crafted’, from the stunning graphics and seamless gameplay to the character cameos, excellent animation and straight-from-the-film sound effects, this is an arcade action app that sets a new benchmark for all others of its ilk. With three tables to play that cover the Clone Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and – just because he was the most bad-bottomed of all the bounty hunters – Boba Fett, there’s a Princess rescuing level of riches when it comes to ramps, rollovers, kickers and targets.
Pick to play for either the Light or the Dark side and register to compete against friends and/or foes on the online leaderboard, or simply keep yourself to yourself and hone your Midi-chlorian managing ball skills in private; whichever path you choose the Force of awesome arcade action will be with you.
THE BOTTOM LINE
An exceptional example of app artistry, Star Wars Pinball costs £1.32 to download and the same again for each additional table, but for Sci-Fi loving fans of proper pinball apps they’re well worth every penny. Besides, what are Galactic Credits worth these days?
