If you buy your coffee at Starbucks often and don’t like to use cash and would prefer the convenience of mobile payments, you’ll be pleased to learn that the Starbucks app for Android has recently been updated to version 4.1.1 where it will now support users reloading the card using Google Pay.
Note that this only works for one-time reloads, meaning that if you were hoping to see some kind of automated reload feature you’d be out of luck, but we suppose you could always choose to reload a huge amount so you can save yourself reloading multiple times. Google Pay isn’t the only option available as other payment methods such as credit cards and PayPal are also supported.
Starbucks seems to be quick on the uptake when it comes to adopting new technology. The company has embraced all kinds of technological innovations, whether it be adopting wireless chargers at its stores, supporting the ordering of your drinks via Google Assistant, and also supporting Google Pay in its stores even though it’s not an advertised feature.
The update to the Starbucks app is now live and if you haven’t already updated it, head on over to the Google Play Store to get your hands on it.
