1849 is a Gold Rush sim, city management game that is available for PC, Mac, and now Android tablets and iPad. A quick note, the mobile version contains only the story mode, while this and the free play version is available for the computer. I hope that free play comes to mobile.
The game begins in Novato CA and your job is to start building a hunting community. In story mode, you will travel to 20 different locations where you will be given a number of goals to accomplish. You can replay any level you want.
The game layout is very nicely done in the game. The menu can easily be accessed and does not take away any valuable screen space. When you first start the game a city advisor is there to help you out. At any time in the game you can easily find out your goals and far along you are with them, how much money you have and need, your storage, and more. There is a lot ot manage in the game and 1849 will keep you busy for a while.
I love the graphics and overall theme of the game. I enjoy city management games and this game from Somasim has not disappointed me.
A few specifics of the game. There is a financial and population adviser to show you how you are doing in those areas. There is a storage ledger to show you what you currently own. There is a Purchase/Sales ledger you will use to deal with trade. In the game you will build homes, roads, water troughs and more. If you need more information on a particular item in your town, simply click on it.
You can easily pitch to zoom in the game to get a closer look when needed. You can also pause and speed up the game.
I am still exploring the game but so far, it has been enjoyable. Since it has come out, the developer has already pushed out a few updates; it is nice to see the support. For those familiar with city management games, you should have no problem getting into the game and understanding what to do.
As I said earlier, I am enjoying the game and look forward to finishing all 20 levels.
