Super Bowl tickets are on sale for the New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale Arizona and the price is much higher than you’d pay to buy two of the most anticipated smartphones of 2015 — the iPhone 6s and Galaxy S6.
The cheapest Super Bowl tickets we could find for Super Bowl XLIX are $2,233 on StubHub and $2,682 on the NFL Ticket Exchange, with prices nearing $13,000 for Club level seats.
Needless to say, Super Bowl 2015 tickets are an expensive commitment to seeing your favorite team win the championship. Unlike last year, Super Bowl tickets don’t come with the same chance for horrible and cold weather thanks to an afternoon start on Sunday February 1st in Arizona.

Still, if you decide to skip the Super Bowl tickets and put that money towards technology, you could pay for two or three of the most anticipated smartphones in 2015 — or just buy one and pay for almost two-years of service. This will not replace seeing your team win, but this is not the first time the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl in recent history.
If the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns or Detroit Lions were in the Super Bowl, the price would be justified since it might not happen again in our lifetime, but as it stands here is what you could get if you skip the Super Bowl and spend you cash on tech. Alternately if you sell your phone and skip any type of mobile connection for the next two years, you’ll basically cover the cost of Super Bowl tickets.
We expect to see the iPhone 6s release in 2015, but you will need to wait until long after the Super Bowl. The best guess is that the Phone 6s release date is in the works for fall and if Apple sticks to tradition expect it in September right as the NFL season starts back up.
You could buy an iPhone ^S and another phone for the price of a Super Bowl ticket.
Apple rarely changes the starting price of the iPhone off contract. In recent memory the only changes came with new models that offered a lower-end option like the iPhone 5c or a higher-end option like the iPhone 6 Plus. The odds are very good that the new iPhone will cost the same as the iPhone 6 on and off contract. We expect the new iPhone to look like the iPhone 6 and offer new features, most likely with an iPhone 6s name.
The iPhone 6s price should be about $649 off contract, which even with taxes is under $700. Check out the iPhone 6s features we hope Apple includes for this price.
Samsung Galaxy S6
What to expect from the Galaxy S6 in 2015.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 release may arrive with weeks of the Super Bowl and there is a good chance the announcement will be in early March.
We expect the Galaxy S6 release in March or April 2015 with a new larger 5.5-inch screen with a higher 2,560 x 1,440 resolution and an upgraded design that features at the very least a metal frame. This upgraded version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is not just a new name on the same body, as rumors indicate Samsung is dedicated to a complete overhaul for 2015.
Although unannounced, we expect a Galaxy S6 price of $639 to $699 off contract in the U.S.
If you stack the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6s together, you are still looking at spending significantly less than the cost of Super Bowl tickets. You can even watch the Super Bowl on your phone when the time comes. This may not be the same as traveling to the game and spending another $500 to $1000 on travel, food and a hotel, but you end up with something that lasts much longer.
If you buy just one of these phones, you can also pay for two years of service on Verizon to keep you connected.

It would be amazing to finally get wireless charging in the iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus so that charging would no longer require a Lightning cable. There are adapters and cases to add wireless charging to the iPhone, but the real benefit comes from integrated wireless charging.
Yes, there is still a need for a cable connected to power, but you would no longer need to plug the iPhone in, just set it on a charging mat on your nightstand, on a coffee table at Starbucks or in a wireless charging dock in your car that can deliver power without the need to fumble with a cable.
The wireless charging iPhone 6s feature is all about the convenience of using the iPhone without a cable tethered to it -- and charging remains the only reason you absolutely need a cable with the iPhone.
