Featuring all the narration, music, artwork, and action that made Bastion one of the most acclaimed games of 2011, this latest version reimagines the play experience to work intuitively using the iPad’s touch screen.
The game costs $4.99 and asks for a whopping 1GB of space on your Apple tablet, which Supergiant Games says is because of “all that HD artwork”.
The award-winning downloadable title will, however, only work on the iPad 2 and latest iPad iteration, and must also be running iOS 5.1 or higher.
Bastion was originally published on Xbox Live Arcade in July 2011, but has since been released for PC via Steam, OS X through the Mac App Store, and even as a browser game for Google Chrome.
So what’s new this time around? Well, not much by the sounds of it. Over on the blog, the company admits:
While there are many subtle changes and enhancements, the main difference between this and previous versions is in how you play the game. Also, due to the nature of the iPad’s screen, Bastion for iPad is presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio (other versions are in 16:9).
The game does feature the Stranger’s Dream sequence though, which was released only as DLC on Xbox 360 and PC.
If you haven’t checked out this indie gem already, $4.99 sounds like an absolute bargain. TNW highly recommends.
