Digital Photos Don't Have To Stay Digital Anymore.
The app I am taking a look at today is the photo app SweetPixQuick by Sweet Pix Quick LLC. A photo app that lets users select photos from different sources and get mounted hard copies they can hang on their wall in any arrangement they would like.
When the app first loads it shows users a video giving them an idea what the app does. It also shows them a written description of the app, so there is no doubt they know what the app does after it loads for the first time. This screen shows a price which makes it seem a little like an advertisement, which could be off putting for some users. I would caution them to not judge the app too quickly because, in my opinion, this is the perfect place to tell the user there is a fee involved with the end result of this app. If they waited until the end of the app's process some would say it was a surprise and it could be shocking. This way the bad news is out of the way right from the start and it seems honest and open and that's good!
Users click the "Let's Begin..." link at the bottom of the start page and they start the process. This process is like a wizard most people have used installing software on a computer. On The first step they are asked to choose between 4 or 6 photos. If they pick 4 the photos are 8x8 inch and if they pick 6 the photos are 6x6 inch. Users can also order multiple sets to mix and match sizes. At the bottom of the screen is the toolbar that controls the wizard. After step one users click next and a screen opens up that allows users to choose between the camera roll and their Instagram account. After choosing their photos step three allows users to crop the photos they chose. Finally step four asks users to choose between black or white mounting boards for their final result. After that step if they click next they can go on to purchase their photos and have them shipped to their address of choice. Users can even send photos as a gift. How cool is that? The app tells users they try to have their photos printed, mounted, and shipped in 7 to 10 days. So make sure you give yourself a couple weeks lead time before ordering.
Overall I like this app for what it is. A way to order nicely mounted prints from your iPhone you can hang on your wall. My only gripe is there isn't enough choices. Not enough choices of photo types and not enough choices where users can get photos from. Offering connectivity to DropBox and Google Drive would be a nice way to enhance this app and give users more flexibility.
