SwiftKey, one of the big names among third-party Android keyboard apps, has just upgraded to version 3. The latest rendition makes a number of important tweaks. The spacebar is larger and a new “smart space” feature will automatically introduce spaces between words if the user forgets to enter them. A new “flexible” punctuation key provides users with several different choices after a long press. And there’s also additional language support along with two different themes.
Like with previous versions, SwiftKey 3 is available as a one-month free trial. You may want to get it sooner rather than later because the app’s developer, TouchType, is celebrating the new release by slashing the price of Swiftkey 3 in half. This means you can download it from Google Play for $1.99 rather than the regular price of $3.99. Users who own a previous version of SwiftKey are in luck as well. This is considered an upgrade, not a new app, so you can download the latest version for free.
The release of SwiftKey comes just after the announcement of a new version of Swype. Both of these third-party Android keyboards are well loved but otherwise couldn’t be more different. Which option do you prefer?
