Mobile carriers in the U.S. are not known for being quick with software updates. This is the reason why most of the time people with carrier locked devices have to wait for a considerably long time just to get the latest iteration on their device. LG G2 and G3 owners on T-Mobile have been waiting for Android 5.0 Lollipop to arrive. They’ll be happy to find out that the update for both devices is now being tested by the carrier.
This information comes courtesy of T-Mobile’s software update tracker which shows devices that are due to receive new updates. LG G2 and G3 have both popped up on the tracker and are shown to be in testing.
Basically what this means is that LG has sent in the update to T-Mobile and Magenta is now testing it out to ensure that it works on the network without causing any issues. Once it’s satisfied the update will be released to end users.
This is the reason why it can’t be said for sure when T-Mobile is going to release Lollipop for the LG G2 and G3 even though we known it has entered the testing phase.
Perhaps T-Mobile might find something that forces it to send the update back to LG for tweaks. This could further delay the release.
