Apple announces the iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4
Apple held a little event early in September, in which they announced the new 13-inch iPad Pro, a new 8-inch iPad Mini 4, the release of iOS 9 and a whole bunch more. Along with the iPad Pro are new accessories, a connected smart keyboard and a new stylus that they’ve named Pencil. Later in the month, the iPad Mini 4 and iOS 9 began shipping to consumers, as you might imagine, we had plenty to say about these devices, come check it out:
Apple’s roll-outs in September also included a mid-month update to most iOS powered devices. If you haven’t seen it already, iOS 9 has been released and will land on your supported device soon. We have been spending some time with the beta release of the OS, and handed over our first impressions of the full public release fro your viewing pleasure. Check it out and be sure to update today for all the newest security and multi-tasking features.
If you’ve been wondering what the new iPad Mini 4 looks like, and what it is capable of, well, I am hoping that either our review or one of our many comparison pieces will help you out. We have only just begun, we’ll have at least a couple more comparison posts coming soon, for now, check out the new iPad in action:
Don’t be fooled by the image here, it is no joke, Amazon is truly selling a full six-pack of tablet. Included in the options are a brand new 10-inch Fire tablet, an updated 8-inch Fire HD and the above, $50 each, or 6 for $250 Amazon Fire 7-inch tablet. Pre-orders have been up for a bit, but full orders and shipping began at the end of the month. Be sure to check out the announcement if you are in the mood for an Amazon tablet:
Windows 10 rolled out in July and we still have things to say about it
Microsoft released their latest and (mostly) free OS to the world back in July, Windows 10 was a big deal then, and we still have things to say about it around here. Most notably, Nirave spent some time with the Windows 10 Tablet Mode recently; not to suggest it is bad, but he certainly had a few complaints. Aside from that, may we give you gentle reminder that there is a fairly new Microsoft Surface Pro on the market, a high-end tablet with attachable keyboard that may serve any of your laptop needs. You can dress up your device with these Surface Pro cases as well.
Our app list rock-star Joe Hindy, from Android Authority, has been visiting to bring us lists of apps for the iPad. He has been prepping for a couple months now, which really just means he’s been playing games over on the Android Authority Twitch channel, but he’s off to a great start and we are glad to have him. Since most of his lists are the “10 best…,” allow me to play on words and remind you of our Best 10…inch tablets list, I mean, what better to play new games on?
This one was a bit of a last minute addition, and surprise entry, to the Android tablet space. Google held an event just the other day to announce their latest Nexus phones, the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, some other fun stuff and an in-house tablet, the Pixel C. This is not a Nexus tablet, not exactly anyway, but it is certainly the flagship of Google’s Android tablet intentions.
