Foursquare users will soon be able to order a ride from Uber directly in the local discovery app. Foursquare is working with Button, a deep-linking startup, to integrate the service. When users tap to see more details on a restaurant, the Uber hailing button will appear. Google officially announced its new photo-sharing service, Google Photos, at its I/O developer conference in San Francisco. With Google Photos, users can backup unlimited photos and videos to Google’s cloud for free. The app lets users sort their photos by day, or even scroll through the months, or years. The new app can create montage movies, interactive stories, collages, animations, and more. Vine, the popular video sharing service, has updated its iOS app to include better search results. By heading on over to the Explore tab, users can now browse through Top or Recent posts. The new update comes a day after Vine landed on the Apple Watch. As of right now, the update is only available on iOS, but the company says the feature will be available for Android in the coming weeks. Read more here.
The Weather Channel is one of the most popular weather apps on iOS. Users can get detailed weather forecasts including hourly forecasts, 36-hour forecasts, 10-day forecasts, and weekend forecasts. Netflix is one of the best subscription services for streaming TV episodes and movies on your iPhone. OpenSignal, a company that specializes in wireless coverage mapping, has released a new app called WifiMapper that finds Wi-Fi hotspots nearby. WifiMapper can tell you where a hotspot is located, how reliable the connection is, and provide more details about the hotspot venue. WifiMapper is powered by the OpenSignal app community, which means that all of the Wi-Fi spots are recommended by other WifiMapper users. The WifiMapper app will help you avoid roaming charges and slow internet at home.
Amsterdam-based startup, Bundle B.V., has launched an app that helps users group and organize their photos, and create shared photo libraries with friends and family members. The app’s “AutoAlbum” feature lets users create albums by selecting which photos should be included. Bundle offers unlimited photo storage, and also lets users connect to storage providers like Dropbox and Google Drive.
Are you looking for a new roommate? Roomi makes it easy to find compatible roommates. Whether you’re looking to just rent out a room or find a new place to stay, Roomi will search for roommates based on your living preferences and interests. As of right now, Roomi is only available in New York, but the developers are planning to expand it quickly and you can sign up to request that Roomi comes to your city.

Meerkat is a live video streaming app available on iOS and Android. The app quickly gained popularity after it debuted at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival. Recently, Twitter cut off Meerkat’s access to the social graph, but Meerkat released an update for its iOS app, which allows users to push live streams directly to Facebook. The latest update features Address book integration so users can connect with people they already know.
Back in March, Twitter officially announced the acquisition of live-streaming app Periscope. Periscope lets users broadcast in real time to their followers. When a broadcast is live, your followers can comment and share “hearts.” When a broadcast is over, users can make it so viewers can watch later. Replays last for 24 hours.
In April, Hipstamatic unveiled DSPO, its news social photography app for iOS. The app originally launched in December 2011, but as Hipstamatic D-Series. DeeMe is a new instant messaging app for iOS. The DeeMe app lets users create more personalized messages. Users can choose from a variety of font styles, add icons, and type their reply on top of each message.
Snapchat recently updated its iOS and Android app that allows users to share photos, videos, and articles directly from Discover. Snapchat Discover allows media companies to publish content, but after 24 hours the content disappears. Snapchat has partnered with CNN, the Daily Mail, Comedy Central, People, Yahoo!, and more. The latest update also added the ability to zoom while recording videos within Snapchat.

HowAboutWe recently relaunched its mobile app with a ton of new features and updated pricing. Users can create or join others’ posted events. Similar to the Tinder dating app, users can swipe through applicants and anonymously select who they’d like to join. Users will then receive a notification when the app suggests a hangout.
The New York Times recently announced that its NYT Now iOS app would be complete free, and that its new version has a fresh new look. The NYT Now app offers a selection of the best stories from the New York Times, and is refreshed throughout the day.
