Microsoft lets iPhone and Android users try out Windows Phone without hacking or installing an app
Microsoft's Windows Phone is slowly gaining momentum, especially with the release of the Mango software update, but the smartphone market is saturated with iPhone and Android users. How can Microsoft possibly get those users to consider switching?
All you have to do is visit http://aka.ms/wpdemo from mobile Safari on your iPhone, or on your Android browser. There, you'll find an interactive HTML5 page that behaves exactly like the Windows Phone UI. It will give you a pretty good taste of what the operating system's experience is like.
The web page won't work on Windows Phone devices, but then again, why should it have to?
There was a time when I believed that Windows Phone 7 was dead in the water, but Mango proved that it has some life in it just yet. And with hardware like Nokia's Lumia 800, and possibly the rumored Lumia 900 we heard about earlier, Windows Phone may be a solid contender in the smartphone space in 2012.
