In some non-IFA related news (yeah, apparently that exists!), Telus may be adding the extra rugged Samsung Galaxy S5 Active to their line up . According to a “trusted source” who spoke to MobileSyrup, the device should be available sometime next month. Here are the specs for the rugged device:
5.1″ 1080p Super AMOLED Display
2.5 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 Processor
16GB Internal Storage
microSD Card Slot
2MP Front Facing Camera
2800 mAh Battery
IP67 Rating for Dust/Water Resistance
MIL-STD-810G Certified for Salt, Dust, Humidity, Rain, Vibration, Solar Radiation, Transport and Thermal Shock Resistance.
All in all, it’s basically a Galaxy S5 that is ultra durable. The phone is lacking the fingerprint reader but it does keep the heart rate monitor. There’s also an additional Action Key on the device for quick access to whatever you decide to program it with.
Unfortunately, no pricing or exact release date is available yet but if it’s supposed to launch next month, that information should become available soon enough.
