The first of February Google launched the BRIGHT RED Nexus 5 in the Google Play Store and over the following weekend promptly sold out of both the 16GB and 32GB models. They are still showing a two – three week wait on both models – so the good news is they will be getting more in stock. This is especially good news if you are a TELUS subscriber as they have decided to add this color to their lineup and will make it available on March 7. The prices in the Google Play Store are still $349 for the 16GB and $399 for the 32GB model. TELUS’s prices are in line with their Black Model at $99 on a two-year contract or $500 full retail price.
When we say ‘BRIGHT RED,’ we mean bright! It is a nice looking device if you like the red color and Google dressed it up a bit by having a red earpiece added, making it look even nicer and standing out against the black background. Likewise, the black power button and black rocker switch stand out nicely against the red sides. There was a leak last month that the Nexus 5 would become available in a few more colors, but so far, red is all that we have seen – most likely released for Valentine’s Day.
The Nexus 5 is the pure Google Android experience, and is always the first device to receive the newest OS updates. The Nexus 5 runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat on a 5-inch Full HD screen (1920×1080) with 445 pixels per inch (PPI). The Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.26GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU takes care of business on the inside along with 2GB of RAM. It sports an 8MP main camera and a 1.3MP front facing camera (FFC) for video chats and selfies and powering the whole Nexus 5 is a 2,300 mAh battery with a wireless charger built-in.
The backlog on this beautifully bright smartphone should be taken care of shortly and TELUS should already have a warehouse full for them to make this announcement. Let us know on our Google+ Page if you will be one of the first users in Canada with the new Bright Red Nexus 5 – a great device, now in a WOW color!
