This week’s addition to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection can provide you with infinite hours of enjoyment. Re-Logic and 505 Games’ fan-favorite sandbox Terraria will be available for free for PS Plus subscribing PlayStation Vita owners once the PlayStation Store has updated.
For all intents and purposes, Terraria is Minecraft set in a 2D platforming world with character sprites shockingly similar to Final Fantasy V‘s cast. With these characters, you can use the world’s elements to make massive fortresses and dreamhouse paradises throughout its procedurally generated maps. You might even be lucky enough to invite some NPCs to occupy your structures, but to do that, you’ll have to take on the element that sets Terraria apart for the competition.
Boss battles. Terraria is jam-packed with intense boss fights that can lay waste to all you’ve created. These monstrosities are summoned with the use of rare item drops, and they can only be stopped by pulling from a huge pool of uniquely lethal weapons.
This PS Vita version sports touch screen controls, cross save support with the PlayStation 3 version, and eight player co-op multiplayer. Keep an eye out for it on Wednesday.
