Who doesn’t love trivia games? They are available in all shapes and sizes, from board games to apps, and cover a huge range of different subjects. Whether you have an interest in Classic TV, the Elizabethan Period, or just general knowledge, you’ll find something to suit you.
After scouring the Android Market I found trivia apps focusing on subjects ranging from Family Guy to the periodic table. Since there are lots of trivia games available for Android, I’ve selected only the very best of them in an effort to find you a trivia game you can really get immersed into.
Even if none of these take your fancy, overall the quality of trivia games on the Android Market is great, and there is sure to be one that interests you!
First up is Trivia Burst. It has over 40,000 different questions, spread out amongst 25 different categories, and you can feel the amount – I never once came across a duplicate in the time I spent with it.
The interface of this app is great: the questions are laid out neatly, and the answers are easy to see and select.
Of course, the most important factor is the quality of the in-game questions. I found these to be well written, easy to understand, and yet challenging. Overall this is a great app and definitely a recommended install for those with an interest in a variety of subjects.

As the name of the app suggests, Who Becomes Rich is largely centred around earning money. For those who have seen the TV show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” the concept of this game will feel very familiar. Basically: every question you answer correctly brings you up another rung on the ladder of prizes – but answer incorrectly and lose all of your earnings so far. Also present in this game are “lifelines.” These are here to aid you if you are unlucky enough to come across a difficult question. Lifelines range from “Ask The Audience” to giving you a new answer.
The interface of this app is really great. It contains sophisticated animations and modern stylish backgrounds, which work together to give the game a very classy and dignified feel.
One very neat aspect of this game is the fact that players can submit questions. This means that the likelihood of the app ever running out of questions to ask you is zero! This is a really great addition and definitely makes this app a must install.
Anybody who knows me personally knows that I’m no sports fan, but just because somebody doesn’t like sport doesn’t mean they don’t like being tested on the subject, right? Okay, maybe it does, but anyway, Sports Trivia contains questions on some very popular sports including baseball, football, golf, and basketball.
The questions are laid out in a very basic fashion, with standard fonts and no background. For example, the launch screen contains four icons, each representing a different sport that you can get quizzed on. Apps don’t get much more minimalist than this, but in the app’s defence getting to the questions is very easy and fast.

1990s TV Trivia is another trivia app with a bare-bones UI. The interface of the game is basic, with a TV serving as a static background and the questions appearing in standard form.
As you’ve surely gathered from the title, the app asks questions based on TV Trivia from shows that aired primarily during the 1990s. The questions are good, though, and any fans of 90s TV shows such as Cheers and Frasier will love scouring their memory to recall what Frasier’s radio show was called, or the address of Cheers.
Sample Question: “Where did the series Silk Stalkings take place?” Price: Free Requires: Android 1.5 or above Market Link:1990s TV Trivia Developer:Brett Plummer
Finally, all those hours of reading “Hello!” magazine will pay off! Celebrity Trivia is developed by the same developer as 1990s TV Trivia, so the apps share several traits such as the UI and style of questions asked.
As with the previous game, the app’s UI is basic and doesn’t rely on fancy animations. Instead, it makes sure that you can read the question and answer it without any distractions.
The questions themselves are, again, primarily decent. Sadly, my celebrity knowledge is rather lacklustre, so you won’t see me bragging about my score anytime soon!
Sample Question: “Who is moving in with her daughter Melissa as part of a new reality show?” Price: Free Requires: Android 1.5 or above Market Link:Celebrity Trivia Developer:Brett Plummer
You’ve probably seen an episode of Family Guy already at least once in your life. This app will test your knowledge and quickly separate the die-hard fans from the casual watchers.
Once again, we see a simple UI – but a nice one, with a basic metal background and contrasting colours.
Questions asked by the app are very good, and as a loyal fan of Family Guy I was really impressed at how much thought the developer had put in to adding questions that really make you think back to Season 1. While not everyone’s ideal subject, for fans of the show it’s a must have!
Sample Question: “Which future president is elected for four more years?” Price: Free Requires: Android 1.6 or above Market Link:Family Guy Trivia Game Developer:Modulus
King of Trivia is the newest contender out of all these, and I’m telling you now, this app is going to be big!
The UI of the app is, in a word, amazing. It doesn’t take a genius to tell that the design was taken very seriously and that the devs made sure that it would stand out above the rest. With a simple black background and colourful icons throughout the app, this app has been graced with a better UI than most Android games.
The questions asked are mostly good, but at the time of writing there is a limited selection. Luckily, the dev assures users of the app that new questions are being added every week, so regular players will never get bored with the same questions. Overall this app is my favourite, and definitely one to download!
Sample Question: “What game were the Cullens family playing when they met James and Victoria?” Price: Free Requires: Android 2.1 or above Market Link:King of Trivia Developer:Silmaril Software pvt ltd
As you can see from the above selection, Android is full of great trivia apps. I hope that you found a good one above that will really put your knowledge to the test!
