Tinder, a popular mobile smartphone dating app and service has just officially announced their Tinder Plus service which has been talked about recently, the best news for existing Tinder users or potentially interested new parties is that there’s no need to install a new application. Tinder plus is just a feature of the official Tinder app so users can continue to like as they always have. Breaking it down to the basics, the plus service will allow users to have unlimited likes for a monthly fee, which is $9.99 a month here in the U.S., and as low as £3.99 a month in the U.K.
If you read into that with the idea that Tinder Plus has different monthly access fees for UK users, you read into things correctly, as that’s exactly the way Tinder Plus works for those in the UK region it seems. The specific details are wrapped up in Tinder’s new cost policy for Tinder Plus which apparently ends up costing users below the age of 28 that £3.99 monthly amount. Those over the age of 28 have a cost of £14.99 a month. This is perhaps a decision Tinder made to try and bring in more users in the younger age group, or perhaps to weed out those in an older age group, either way it seems like a move that may end up alienating customers.
The prices for the U.S. residents as still a single monthly rate if you want unlimited likes, but there are reportedly other cost ranges depending on what you want, presumably for a higher amount of likes than with a free Tinder account but not quite unlimited. All those monthly costs are available as of today and can be accessed through the Tinder app itself as an in app purchase, which is where you’ll likely find any other monthly cost options should you use Tinder already or are thinking about signing up. Tinder already has millions of users before having launched Tinder Plus, and it’ll be interesting to see how their first attempt at app monetization plays out. Will users like the new cost options for unlimited likes? Or will they pass up the opportunity and stick with free?
