CAPE TOWN, South Africa – The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) praised two smartphones – Nokia 808 PureView and Samsung Galaxy Nexus for their photographic performance, besides a number of DSLRs and accessories.
Applauding Nokia's latest creation, the PureView technology, the association awarded the phone with Best Imaging Innovation title. TIPA complimented 808 PureView's big sensor, high-resolution, color-enrichment, loss-less digital zoom and noise-free images and videos.
However, oddly enough, the association awarded Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Best Mobile Imaging Device trophy. This device impressed TIPA, particularly, with 720p Super AMOLED screen and zero shutter lag.
Understandably, the Nokia 808 PureView was ineligible for this award as the phone is not on sale yet. Still, it seems that the association missed other smartphones that were more worthy of it such as the Galaxy S II, iPhone 4S or even Xperia S, all of which are more deserving than the 5MP camera of Galaxy Nexus.
