In our Apps of the Year series, The Next Web team shares personal recommendations for our favorite apps of 2014.
Remember when I said I do a lot of interviews? Maybe you don’t, but I do talk to people all the time. That means setting up a ton of meetings and for that I use Mynd.
The calendar app for iOS presents your schedule as a series of easy to digest cards with a tiny map showing where you meeting is, the weather, the people you’ll be meeting with and when you need to leave to make that meeting.
If you have meetings that routinely take you out of the office, it’s incredibly helpful. It even works with Apple’s reminders so you can keep track of all those tiny tasks you need to do during the day.
The app ties directly into the calendar systems you use already (Apple, Google, etc) and pulls contact information from LinkedIn. It also grabs notes from Evernote and helps you dial into those conference calls.
In addition to the Mynd view, there’s the more traditional list and day view for a quick look at your entire day.
The app itself is free, but for there’s a Mynd Premium subscription service that’ll set you back $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year. With it, the app will push travel notifications to tell you exactly when you need to leave based on distance and traffic conditions. It also tracks your life so you can see how you’re spending your time. You can also track milage and billable hours which is helpful when you’re constantly on the go meeting with folks over lunch.
You can try out the premium service free for 14 days. If you like it, $20 a year a pretty good deal if you can expense mileage and need to keep track of billable hours (I’m looking at you lawyers).
I’ve been using the app for a while now and the ultimate test will be when I attend CES. It certainly cant make that scheduling nightmare any worse.
