Dipping into BlackBerry App World on my PlayBook last night and I came across this odd sounding game called ToFu by HotGen Limited. It took me only seconds before I hit the purchase button. This game is a blast! I was hooked after the first level.
ToFu is compatible with BlackBerry PlayBook tablet OS 1.0 and retails for $2.99 in BlackBerry App World here. The game is highly interactive you won’t want to put it down.
— Unique Stretch Control: Stretch and ping To-Fu using nothing but your finger. Controls that are designed exclusively for touch-screen. No buttons required! — Substantial Challenge: 140 unique trials for To-Fu to master and perfect. Hours of gameplay and replay value. — Booby-Traps: A plethora of obstacles to overcome: including 5 different surface types alongside an abundance of taxing traps. — Truly Universal Experience: A game for everyone: from seasoned gamers to complete newcomers.
A quick tutorial and your off to the stretching and pinging adventures. The little To-Fu guy is utterly adorable. Like a little kung-fu ninja with elastic bouncy texture. The game evolves nicely as you move up the levels. Collect chi, complete trials (levels) in the required amount of moves and finally ping into the fortune kitty. Then do it again!
This isn’t a mind bender nor does it take a rocket scientist to get through it, but the smooth animations, big light explosions and control keep it at a grade A level. Impressive graphics made me excited enough to grab their previous title too..
It hasn’t happened overnight. But it is great to see the PlayBook products maturing to this level. Shows that developers are serious about developing for the platform and keeps things fresh for the end user too. Hopefully we’re just scratching the surface.
