Another busy week for us on the Sony Mobile team has been and gone, and as usual we wanted to update you on what we’ve been up to. Earlier this week we announced another exciting, if not slightly messy partnership with Tough Mudder. The collaboration sits Sony as the official device sponsor throughout the 2015 endurance events and will see our Xperia Z3, SmartWatch 3, SmartBand Talk and Lifelog each accompany participants in this year’s no doubt wet and mud-spattered race.
Each of the wearable devices will document participants’ Tough Mudder fitness journey from start to finish, as their physical and mental strength is pushed to the test across the many 12-mile courses across the country. Needless to say we’re sure our devices waterproofness will be put to the test as well!
Xperia Z3 will also capture the race at strategic angles using ‘Timeshift video’ and ‘Timeshift burst’ camera features, filming the teams in slow motion as they battle the muddy terrain. Perfect for those who want to capture the strain and stains on the runners faces.
This week also saw Action Cam capturing some extraordinary footage by joining forces with a diverse range of filmmakers, artists and influencers to create the first instalment to a new series of short films entitled ‘Never Before Seen’.
The first three films – Picture Machine, Paperports and Creature – directed by Studio Nos, Charles Young and Ryan Dzierzek respectively, certainly lived up to the title each showcasing interesting stories out of the ordinary.
Check out the videos below where you can delve into a intricate miniature paper architecture practice, explore the construction of a reverse zoetrope or hear the tale of a mutant reptile on the loose.
Each of the films celebrates the creativity that Sony’s Action Cam can capture and how you can experience new stories from new perspectives.
The release will enable developers to create true augmented reality experiences, with innovative applications that deliver a world of knowledge in front of your eyes.
Now you may remember a few weeks back we introduced the upcoming PS4 firmware update (codenamed Yukimura) on behalf of our friends over at PlayStation.
Well the update is now live – delivering you an onslaught of new features that will make significant improvements to your PS4 experience.
And as you probably remember Sony Mobile fans are also able to benefit from the update as it also brings new and improved performance upgrades for PS4 Remote Play on Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 Series devices.
This means that those of you who like to take your gaming mobile you can now enjoy your PS4 games running at 60fps when using PS4™ Remote Play and can even customise the frame rate depending on your connection speed. Simply download and install the firmware and ensure you’ve updated to the latest version of the PS4 Remote Play app on your Xperia device – then you’re good to go.
The latest update means that whether you’re staying in or on the move this weekend there’s really no excuse not to get gaming.
That’s it from us for the week, enjoy your weekend.
