If you are one of the people who has been waiting for Toshiba to officially release the latest iteration of their Excite tablet devices, today is a good day for you as they are officially available for purchase. Toshiba released the three 10.1-inch class devices at three different price points, so one of them should fit the requirements of most buyers. The devices include the Excite Pure, the Excite Pro and the Excite Write and are available through Toshiba direct or major retailers like Amazon.com or Best Buy.
The Toshiba Excite Pure is kind of the oddball of the group as it is using a Tegra 3 chip and the screen is only running at 1280×800 resolution. The device comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD. In line with the “Pure” name, the Excite Pure comes loaded with a stock version of Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. The Excite Pure will set you back $300.
The Excite Pro and the Excite Write are both running NVIDIA Tegra 4 processors mated with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which again, can be expanded via microSD. The Gorilla Glass 2 displays should look absolutely fabulous as they are 2560 x 1600 resolution. Toshiba also tried to step up in the audio department with these devices by using Harmon Kardon speakers. The difference between the two devices is the Wacom digitizer/stylus that comes with the Excite Write, making it similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note line of devices. Both of these higher end tablets will come loaded with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean as well and the Excite Write gets Toshiba’s TruNote app to capitalize on the devices pen input.
