S5 Does Not Turn On
Problem:My s5 won’t power on I’ve charged the battery but I get no led lights showing its charging but the phone gets warm I don’t get any lights any power or anything except when I hold the power button it will vibrate like it would when powering on I’ve tried taking out memory card taking out sd card taking out battery for 5 minds and relaxing holding power button home button and vol up button and the power home and volv down but I get nothing no lights or power just the viberate and if I continue to hold power button it will continue to vibrate every 30 secs or so
Solution: Try inspecting the charging port of your phone if it has any signs of dirt or lint. This usually interferes with the charging process. If you spot any then clean it if necessary using compressed air or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
You should also try using a different wall charger and USB cable when charging your phone. Using another charger that is known to work charge your phone for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.
If the problem still persists then try replacing your battery with a new one.
S5 Does Not Turn On After Being Charged Overnight
Problem:I plugged my phone in before going to bed, as usual. In the morning the green charge light was on, but the phone was otherwise unresponsive. It may have vibrated once, but I might have also been shaking in anger and irritation. Took the battery out and that fixed the green light being on. Attached to charger and nothing. I ordered a new battery for it, but it won’t be here until Tuesday (damnizon prime). The guy at the phone store tried all kinds of fixes, but we were unable to try a new battery. I am holding out hope that the new battery will silver bullet this problem. Are there other possible things I could do? If the battery fails, I am planning on trying to drop the phone from various heights to the top of the table until it responds; that has worked with other mechanical devices in the past. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
Solution: It is very likely that replacing the battery may help resolve this issue. However, you can still troubleshoot this further in case it isn’t a battery related issue.
Try taking out your phone battery then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges your phone of any remnant charge and clears out its RAM. Once this is done, reinsert the battery then turn on your phone.
If the phone still does not turn on then attempt to enter the recovery mode and wipe the cache partition of your phone.
Turn off the device.
Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
Press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.
If the issue still persists then try connecting your phone using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. Turn on your phone and if it gets detected by Kies you can go ahead and disconnect your phone.
S5 Does Not Turn On
Problem:I have a Samsung Galaxy s5. I been using it for 5 months! It’s unlocked phone! Bought it from eBay! My problem with my phone is after I charge it using a portable charger were I bough on Amazon! It’s overheated and my phone just shuts of, it never turn on again! I try to charges it in our pc, change the battery and still didn’t work. It’s totally dead. I think it’s the software been affected! We tried to bring it to the repair shop here in town! But they are afraid to look at it! Is there any possible way to fix my phone without consulting another repair shop?
Solution: If you have already tried using a different charger and a new battery without any results then this may already be a hardware related problem.
Before bringing your phone to an authorized service center try to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
Get a new battery then charge it using the original Samsung wall charger for at least 20 minutes before turning on your phone.
If your phone does not turn on then take out the battery then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges your phone of any remnant charge and clears out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then turn on your phone.
If the issue persists you will need to bring your phone to an authorized service center.
S5 Does Not Charge
Problem:Hi, My 7 month old phone suddenly decided to not charge when plugged in. It also won’t charge on my car charger — both are original Samsung charging cords. Now it is completely dead. I’ve taken it several places and they have determined that the cord port looks fine, as well as the phone’s charging port. They also said that the battery itself is charged 100%, but the phone doesn’t seem to recognize that. The contact points on the battery and phone seem perfectly fine. I’ve not dropped the phone or exposed it to moisture. Any ideas? I’m afraid the phone is shot, and I will call Samsung tomorrow – but wondered if you had any thoughts on this.
Solution: Try discharging your phone and clearing out its RAM first. To do this just take out your phone battery then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert the battery then turn on your phone.
If your phone still does not turn on then try using a new battery on it. Ensure that the phone charging port is free of any dirt or lint. You can clean this using compressed air or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol. You should also make sure that the USB cord you will be using in charging the phone is not faulty. Charge the battery using a wall charger at least 20 minutes before turning your phone on.
If the issue persists then you will need to have your phone serviced.
