Dual SIM for iPhone 4? Are we kidding? No, of course not! Vooma brought us all a good news yesterday while talking about something very special – Dual SIM case for iPhone 4S / iPhone 4 which lets you turn your iPhone into a Dual SIM smartphone which means you can use two SIM cards right away. It’s a great advantage especially for those who travel abroad and need to use a local SIM on their iPhone for making cheaper calls in that country.
Of course, you’ll need a jailbroken iPhone to do that – which lets the Vooma app (from the accessory-maker) unlock your iPhone.
The Vooma Peel PG92 DUAL SIM Case for iPhone 4/4S
Now, with the Vooma Peel PG92 Case, it’s completely possible to make your iPhone a dual SIM phone. All you need is this Dual SIM case for iPhone 4s/4 – which fits like a T on the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S and brings quite a lot of other advantages too.
The Vooma Peel PG92 comes with a perfect design that makes it easy to insert another SIM on the accessory – but which can be used right away as your iPhone would be unlocked by the app. This is very useful as a locked iPhone does not let you use other SIM-s on it. The gadget has not yet been launched, it’s still being worked out for a public release but you can keep yourself updated by entering your email address on their official website : http://www.vooma.com/
Additional Battery Too
Oh yes, you also get an additional battery backup on the Dual SIM iPhone 4/4S case– which enhances / doubles up the average battery life on your iPhone 4. With iOS 5 update and all that stuff, iPhone 4 might be a bit worked up – so there might be faster battery drain. Perhaps Vooma aimed at a double-shot in a single accessory for the iPhone 4 – and got you another battery safely and neatly tucked inside the accessory so you get a doubled battery-life.
The Dialer – A Replica of Apple’s Own
What’s interesting is that the guys who coded the app (for unlocking the iPhone and using the other SIM on it) have made sure the user does not feel he’s using a different app. The dialer is almost like that of Apple’s own dialer on the iPhone. The features used on them are quite exactly the same, so a person using the app would probably feel like he’s using just the iPhone’s built-in dialer.
There are two downsides we see:
1. It’s bit of a bulk. Yeah, there’s some bulk to the Dual SIM case for iPhone 4S, but if you are focused on the extra SIM and extra battery and all that, you’d not feel it.
2.It works only on jailbroken iPhones. For the moment, although the case would fit perfectly on the iPhone 4S, you might be able to use Dual SIM with iPhone 4 only and not on the iPhone 4S. That’s clear, because there’s no working jailbreak yet available for iPhone 4S.
