Most people know that one of the benefits of eBook reading is being able to adjust the size and font of the words. No more being constrained by the availability of large-print books! You can make the text as large as you want, to help you see.
What many people might not realize, though, is that the Kindle has other options to help save your eyes, and they are tucked away in that same font menu. One of these options is night mode.
What is night mode useful for? It is useful for reversing the contrast when you read at night. The text appears as white text on a black background. This gives you less blinky stuff to focus on, and also ensures that if you read in bed with a sleeping partner, you will not disturb them with the beacon glow of your tablet.
It is easy to use. Simply tap to make the menu appear, and then tap on the A where the font menu is. You see those three colour buttons? Tap the one which says ‘black’ and presto, you are in night mode. To change it back later, just go in again and choose white or sepia instead.
