User Agent Profile (UAProf) documentation for Huawei’s upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro appears to have been uploaded to the company’s servers, possibly revealing the final display resolutions for both smartphones. For clarity, UAProfs are voluntary but commonly provided by OEMs in the form of an XML file and used to ensure content is properly formatted for a given handset. With that said, the documents in question apply to Huawei phones bearing the model numbers HMA-L29 and LYA-L2. Those are currently expected to be the company’s 6.3-inch Mate 20 and 6.9-inch Mate 20 Pro, respectively. For the smaller of those devices, the screen resolution is shown at 1080 x 2244 FHD+ panel. That also works out to an aspect ratio of 18.7:9, while the larget device can now be said to be expected with a taller QHD+ display at 1440 x 3120. That’s slightly taller than an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
If expectations about those screen sizes are accurate, that would also mean the Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a pixel density of around 498 ppi. By comparison, the pixel density of the smaller device would come in at around 395 ppi. Aside from those differences, each is expected to house a total of three rear-facing camera sensors but in different orientations. Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro has been shown in purported images featuring a square arrangement with an LED flash situated next to one sensor along the top row and two other cameras below. The Mate 20’s cameras, to the contrary, are expected to be in a verticle orientation. In either case, that’s predicted to be a primary shooter, backed by separate telephoto and wide-angle sensors.
Bearing that in mind, both handsets are currently expected to be officially announced on October 16 and will have at least a few similarities. Each is expected to sport an AI-driven 64-bit octa-core processor built by Huawei subsidiary HiSilicon – the Kirin 980. That was unveiled at IFA Berlin earlier this month and is touted as the most powerful mobile SoC ever built. It’s also rumored that both will be comprised of a metal and glass design and will feature Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. Of course, that will almost certainly be set underneath the company’s latest EMUI 9 skin.
