I’ve got nothing but love for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Now with the combination of the advanced developers such as XLabz Technologies and the PlayBook, we are starting to see some really quality stuff hitting App World. Their latest release Uber Iris has me giddy like a schoolgirl!
Uber Iris is a photo filter app that not only let’s you take photos, filter them, add quality effects, crop, flip etc. The app does so with a beautiful user interface that really puts the app at the top of my new favorite list!
° Extremely smooth and user-friendly interface which allows for quick photo edits ° Take pictures from within the app or import photos from your camera roll and edit them on the move ° Edit and view your pictures in both portrait and landscape mode ° Choose from 30 different filters and effects to give your photos both artistic and fun effects ° Sliders to fine tune each effect and style strength ° Get creative and apply multiple filters to the same picture to get interesting effects ° Editing tools like crop, rotate, flip and adjustments for hue, saturation, brightness and contrast ° Save your masterpieces on your Android or share them with friends and family via Facebook, Twitter and Flickr
FILTERS & EFFECTS
° Autumn: Inject some earthiness into your pictures ° Aura: Give your photos that special glow ° Purple Haze: Photos can be more fun when they’re purple ° Sunkiss: Let your pictures bask in the warm sun ° Rewind: Take your pictures back in time ° Hallucination, Tungsten, Nostalgia, Lomo, X Pro and many more…
° Rotate: Clockwise, anticlockwise… have fun with it! ° Flip: Coz mirror images sometimes look better than the original picture! Flip it to the left, right and any way you want! ° Crop: Crop off that ugly banner or that truck from the background! Choose from a full range of crop options; Freeform, Golden Ratio, Square & others ° Adjustments: Fine-tune your pictures by adjusting the Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Hue
I admit I haven’t had more than 6 hours hands on with this one. But I knew after just one picture and a quick flick through the wheel of filters that this one was solid gold.
You don’t need any real training to pick this app up, snap a shot [or pull from your pre-existing pictures] and then begin to filter your images to your liking. If you’ve used any of XLabz other products you should already be familiar with their very detailed UI set-up. The moment you launch Uber Iris your brought a HUD on what each button’s functions are.
Across the top we have Camera, Import Photo – pretty simple. The middle gives you Rotate, Flip, Crop, Adjustments [H, S, B, C] and the Effects – this is where you make the photo look just-so. If your not familiar with a feature you can always try each one to see the results then back out prior to saving. To the far right is Save to Photos and Share. With these options you can choose to either save your photo of course or share it to Twitter, Facebook and/or flickr.
There’s plenty of other apps in BlackBerry App World like Uber Iris, sure. But this is the first one that I’ve really gotten excited about. It’s not over-stuffed with features your not going to use. It doesn’t require anything but the app itself to take, trick-out and save or share your photos in just a few seconds. Uber Iris is just $2.99 in BlackBerry App World or is available for Android at the links below!
