The NVIDIA SHIELD has been getting a number of games recently that are SHIELD-exclusives. The most recent of which was Super Meat Boy which became available a little under a month ago. However, a number of these games are normally older games which are ported over to run specifically on the SHIELD which is vastly different to the latest newly arriving SHIELD-exclusive game, Ultimate Chicken Horse.
For those new to this game, Ultimate Chicken Horse did originally begin as a Kickstarter project last year. However, it was not until March of this year when it became available to buy through Steam and priced at $14.99. Barely two months since that initial Steam launch and Ultimate Chicken Horse and its multiplayer fun is now arriving on the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV and SHIELD tablets. What’s more is that it is arriving for these SHIELD devices at an even cheaper price than it is currently available through Steam, as Ultimate Chicken Horse is now available from the Google Play Store for only $9.99. Although, it is worth pointing out that this is a limited launch price and once the initial launch phase is over the price will head up to $11.99, which is still cheaper than it is on Steam.
If the name of the game sounds a little strange then once you start playing, it will begin to make more sense. To sum up, Ultimate Chicken Horse is a game about a chicken and a horse and the two competing to see who is the ultimate winner, which basically means who can reach the flag first. What makes the game a little different from other multiplayer titles, though, is that you help to create the difficulty level for your opponent. This is achieved by players helping to build the level by incorporating blocks, projectiles, and other traps, and hazards to try and limit your opponents chances of reaching the flag. Of course, while these will impede you too, if you can reach the flag and overcome yours and your opponent’s blocks, projectiles and other traps, and hazards, then you win. As you might expect, the further you get into the game, the more complex the levels become, further adding to the general difficulty. A style of gameplay which makes it ideal for multiplayer action and especially considering there is a ‘party mode’ which offers support for up to four players. Alternatively, if you are just looking for some solo fun, then you can make use of the story mode and play on your own as well.
