There aren’t many things in the world of Android that can inspire more fear than a bricked device. And for inexperienced users, soft bricked devices can be just as scary as actual hard bricked ones. And even if not explicitly scary, seeing the boot animation repeat itself over and over again or not going past the splash screen can be quite frustrating.
Usually troubleshoot is the same for everything: either flash a new ROM or restore a Nandroid backup in recovery. However, there can be complications, especially if one doesn’t make a Nandroid backup and doesn’t have a fresh ROM handy on their SD card. This is a problem that can be easily fixed on the LG Nitro HD. XDA Senior Member mattman86 has written up an extensive tutorial for LG Nitro HD users. Packed inside is a lot of information, but the theme of it is getting your LG Nitro unbricked and keeping it that way.
The key parts of the tutorial include:
Reviving the Phone
Flashing AT&T Stock ROM
Installing ClockworkMod Recovery
Creation of a Nandroid Backup (Entitled: Create First Recovery for Easy Unbricking)
Restoring Nandroid Backup After a Soft Brick
The guide includes the basic troubleshooting method for all soft bricks, and once again demonstrates how essential Nandroid backups are. What is unique about this guide, however, is that usually this information is spread out over three or four threads in any given sub forums. Also, should the reviving the phone not work, users can always fall back on the much more complex unbrick tutorial we posted a few months ago.
