If you’re in the US of A and are craving Sony’s latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z2, you’re in a bit of a situation. See, officially the handset is only going to be out sometime this summer, and even then it’s very unlikely that it will be offered by any of the carriers. Which means you’ll need to get it from Sony’s own online store, in unlocked form that is.
But what if you simply can’t wait a few more months and got to have an Xperia Z2 as soon as possible? Well, amazingly you’re in luck. A third party retailer has come to your rescue already, by offering an ‘unofficial’ unlocked Xperia Z2 up for grabs.
The only kicker? The price, naturally. While competing flagships from Samsung and HTC can be found for around $649-$699 unlocked, because this is an unofficial import the Xperia Z2 is priced at $799. A pretty tough amount to swallow, that’s for sure. If it’s any consolation, though, that’s still significantly cheaper than what the same device is being sold for in certain parts of Europe, for example.
You can use this unlocked Xperia Z2 on either AT&T or T-Mobile, complete with 4G LTE support. Not on Verizon, Sprint, or any other CDMA-based carrier, though.
If you’re interested in picking one up despite the price, just go to GSM Nation and make an order.
