Verizon’s Nokia Lumia Icon (previously known as the Lumia 929) has been a very long time coming. So long, in fact, that we’re frankly amazed that it’s still not available. It’s had many rumored release dates, and now we get another one.
Yet because it’s enjoyed so many missed estimates, we’re a bit wary about this one. Then again, it’s high time the Lumia Icon went on sale, so maybe the handset will finally get the occasion to do just that in a few days.
According to a leaked document that is purported to be a Verizon inventory listing, the Lumia Icon should be available to purchase on February 20. That’s in exactly ten days from today, and it’s next Thursday.
Pre-orders for the device should start on February 12, which is this Wednesday. You’ll be able to drop a $50 deposit in Microsoft Stores to reserve one of the first Lumia Icons in the US, the story goes.
Let’s hope that this time’s the charm. The Lumia Icon is basically the Lumia 1520 in a smaller and more pocketable form factor. It has a 5-inch 1080p Full HD AMOLED touchscreen, a 20 MP PureView rear camera with double LED flash, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Qi wireless charging, all the usual connectivity options (including 4G LTE), and a 2,510 mAh battery. It runs Windows Phone 8 Update 3 with Lumia Black.
