Launched back in May, at the same time with the LG Revolution, Motorola Droid X2 and HTC Trophy, Verizon’s Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was initially available for $199.99 on contract.
Not long after its launch, Verizon cut the handset’s price to $99, and then to $49 (to match the price of AT&T’s Xperia Play).
Now Verizon is offering the PlayStation-certified Android smartphone for free, although the offer is available only online, and will last just three days – until October 6.
You can go here at Verizon to get the Xperia Play for free (new contract agreement required).
Sure enough, Amazon and Wirelfy have been selling the SE Xperia Play for almost nothing since June. But that doesn’t mean Verizon’s current offer won’t lure some customers (unless they’re all waiting for Apple’s new iPhone 4S, which has been announced a few hours ago, and will come to Verizon on October 14).
