Verizon has just dropped the price of the Samsung Droid Charge to $199.99. The Droid Charge was initially priced at $299.99 on a new two year contract, but with the release of the Droid Bionic last month, the price of the Droid Charge as well as the HTC Thunderbolt has dropped. The Thunderbolt recently was reduced to $199.99. This is likely due to the fact that the Bionic features a dual-core processor, while both the Thunderbolt and Charge only have single core processors.
If you are unfamiliar with the Droid Charge, it features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1GHz processor, a 8 megapixel camera with 720p HD recording, 2GB of internal memory, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, 512 MB of RAM, Android 2.3.4, and LTE network connectivity.
Its good to see Verizon cutting prices on their LTE phones, which were all initially very high. I believe that more people will purchase LTE devices if they are cheaper. Most people don’t think that $199.99 isn’t a bad price since most smartphones are priced at that, but when you see a $299.99 device on contract, it usually scares some customers away.
