Yesterday a press shot of Verizon’s upcoming HTC Vigor got leaked, and along with it came information that ‘Vigor’ will be the device’s final name, and not a mere codename. However, here we are not one day later and new information seems to claim that’s not the case.
Droid Life has received the image you can see below. This is a purported shot of an internal Verizon document speaking about the Vigor. And, as you can see, it’s apparently going to be sold under the name Droid Incredible HD.
Which is all fine, until you carefully read through those bullet points. First off, there’s a claim that the phone will have a 4.3″ WVGA display. WVGA equals 800×480. But then the next bullet point says this will be the world’s first phone with 1280×720 HD resolution. That’s clearly a contradiction there, so either a Verizon employee really doesn’t know anything about screen resolutions, or this is a fake. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.
Why would anyone fake something like this? We don’t know, but don’t quickly assume it couldn’t have been a typo. Not long ago we’ve seen a purported leaked document from Nokia that spoke of a 5 MB (!) camera – and that document turned out to be real, complete with typo.
Aside from the resolution strangeness, the document above basically reconfirms all of the Vigor’s specs that we already know about. And it also gives us a release date: October 13. Now the best way to find out if this is fake or not is to just patiently wait about a month or so. But you know that something else will get leaked in the meantime, so we’ll be around to tell you if this launch date is confirmed or not.
