Verizon said recently it was working on a shared tier of data plans for those with family plans, and that they would be making the feature available in 2012. Let’s face it, if you have a family plan with 3 lines and data on each of them, that is $90 just for data! That is insane, especially just for 2GB for each phone. Hopefully these shared data plans can ease this pain.
An anonymous tipster told Engadget:
training material for an update to the outfit’s internal account management application includes screenshots, which the important one is shown above, that show a new section labeled “account level data plans.” The new section apparently shows an account level charge for data allowance and a 9.99 charge per line.
There’s no word on exactly when these backend tweaks might translate into a new family data plan, but hopefully it’s soon and based on the details it looks like we are going to like it much better then the current data plans for family plans.
As soon as we get more information about these new shared Data plans on Verizon we will be sure to pass it along. In the meantime hit up the comments and let us know how much you are paying per month for data on your family or shared plan.
