A whirlwind of privacy concerns have blown up around US Android smartphones following the apparent discovery of hidden tracking software installed on Google-powered handsets.
Carrier IQ, the company behind the software, claim the application records actions made on an Android smartphone for the sake of analysis and summarising. This contradicts the video below however, which shows the software noting every action taken, including simple key strokes.
The controversial application has yet to be discovered on European devices, although it’s certainly a possibility this could be the case. Carrier IQ’s technology was originally found hidden on the HTC EVO 3D, although The Verge are stating devices created in direct partnership with Google such as the Galaxy Nexus are unaffected.
