Not so long ago Android modders were racing against each other to port Google’s tablet OS to the defunct HP TouchPad. As it turns out, the team at CyanogenMod haven’t given up the ghost with Ice Cream Sandwich having just arrived for owners of the discontinued slate.
While the Alpha 0 build of CyanogenMod 9 currently lacks some functionality, including Android Market access, hardware accelerated video and use of the tablet’s camera, fixes are expected to be an ongoing concern for the project.
Budding Android modders will also be pleased to know the full source code has been included in the release of CyanogenMod 9, allowing users to tinker endlessly with their HP TouchPad.
