How many megapixels does your front-facing smartphone camera really need? For most companies the answer is just a few, but a new device from Vivo could put the competition to shame.
The Chinese firm recently began teasing an upcoming X5 Pro with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, though there may be a bit of technological trickery at work. Vivo is likely using a method similar to the Oppo Find 7, which combines multiple rapid-fire shots to create one high-quality photo. The Vivo X5 Pro may also offer a hefty 6-inch display, a Snapdragon 615 processor, a 3500mAh battery, a metal frame and 3GB of RAM. It’s set to run Android 5.0 Lollipop along with the company’s own Funtouch UI.
Vivo is apparently set to unveil the X5 Pro early next month, though we’re not expecting the device to launch in the U.S. Still, it’s possible the company’s focus on high-quality selfies will rub off on some of its international rivals.
