Promising ‘quality over quantity’, Vodafone has launched its own content channel on Android Market. Clearly influenced by our story on the state of the market – published only yesterday, but still clearly influenced by it – Vodafone has vowed to bring quality apps to its Android users by highlighting only the best apps and eschewing the poorly-coded, ill-conceived tat available elsewhere.
Vodafone’s Group Content Services Director Lee Epting said, “Together with Google, Vodafone has made it really simple for customers to get to the essential apps they can trust. More than 75 million Vodafone customers around the world are regularly using the mobile internet, and we are committed to giving them the best possible experience. This focus on quality over quantity helps deliver on that commitment.”
Vodafone’s channel is now live in Android Market in the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, while Greece, Ireland and Portugal are on the horizon. The channel will focus on Vodafone’s own range of apps and services as well as delivering news, information and a selection of gaming apps. There’s also the promise of exclusive discounts and other offers for channel users.
