Apple fans might not be lining up for the iPhone 7 like they did for previous models (mostly because the company has been pushing online sales instead), but one mega-fan is still going strong. Japanese Apple fanatic Ayano Tominaga lined up for the new iPhone in Tokyo this week and she brought a Steve Jobs body pillow to keep her company.
Tominaga picked up a matte black iPhone 7 (possibly because the iPhone 7 Plus and the Jet Black color option aren’t available in stores at launch). She was also happy to pose with her body pillow alongside other Apple fans for photos. Tominaga apparently slept outside the store for two nights, sharing photos on Instagram while she waited for the new smartphone to arrive.
This isn’t the first time Tominaga has shown up for iPhone launch day with her Steve Jobs body pillow on display. According to Mashable she had the pillow printed back in 2014 for the iPhone 6. That year she spent nine days camped out at the Apple Store. Nine days! 216 hours!!
As long as Apple has fans like this we’ll continue to see customers line up each year to grab the new iPhone at launch. But for most people, it makes more sense to just pre-order the phone online or a wait a little longer until things calm down.
