I can’t hide my true colors anymore. Fact is I’m a collector of awesome rss readers; Web, BlackBerry & PlayBook. After setting up the brand new RSS Reader: Web Reader by Soft Artist Ltd last week, I haven’t really used any of my others on PlayBook much.
The Web Reader RSS is compatible with BlackBerry tablet OS 1.0 as well as a Desktop version. The full featured PlayBook version sells for just $2.99! And after you use the app for a few minutes, you’ll see the emphasis in my “just!”

If your new to the whole RSS thing, let me just ease your confusion by suggesting you just need to get yourself a few favorite blogs, add them to a product like Web Reader here and watch the magic unfold! Users with a lot experience using rss feeders will be happy to see Web Reader safely syncs with your Google Reader accounts. Nowadays if an rss readers doesn’t give this option, it doesn’t fit well into my mobile world.
The user interface and performance are what really stands out about this product. I’m constantly doing multiple things at once & in my daily routine, having an application that doesn’t linger on loading screens or lack important features is crucial. Web Reader even supports portrait, very well! No matter what your screen orientation WR adjusts the HUD and lays out all the user needs clearly and with minimal interruption over a white/light grey/grey boarder from right to left. Your scrolling, back button and mark all read actions can be executed from the left side of the screen. Across the bottom is your Star, Like button, Facebook, Twitter, Email and Link buttons as well for social sharing.
While viewing posts you can literally scroll all around the web view for maximum viewing. Plenty of images everywhere, you can select to have posts readily readable offline in the Settings by turning Offline Mode to: On. Toggle Preloaded images, Automatically marking items read and set you Cache size too. Settings can be found by pulling down from the top bezel/hide it the same way. At any point you can pull a post over to the PlayBook browser by touching the Title Banner of any post your reading. Remember double clicking on any post in the feed will open a full screen view for uninterrupted reading as well. They already thought of it all, I just had to find it!
With a price like $2.99 and a sore spot for attractive rss readers you can’t go wrong. If your new to rss readers or just want something better than the Free offerings in BlackBerry App World, I’d really have to recommend Web Reader, it’s the best all around client in my opinion!
