I know a lot of you reading this live in that ‘Foreign’ and I hope that that’s working out for you, but that means you probably won’t know what’s happening here in the United of Kingdom. Well, to save you worrying how your Britishish cousins are doing, I’ve decided that, henceforth, I shall include a short update from The Island here each week: Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh… everything’s perfectly all right now. We’re fine. We’re all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
In fact, despite the fact it’s still snowing in March, we’re more than fine. Just this very week our highly respected Chancellor of the Exchequer, ‘Gorgeous’ George Osborne delivered a budget that sliced the price of a pint of beer by a penny, meaning that I’m now saving money when I drink! Also, for every 370 pints I drink I now, technically, get a free one! That’s winning on a level previously only known to Charlie Sheen.
And also winning this week is Android (bet you didn’t see that coming). Ever expanding its arsenal of apps, accessories and, erm, ’andsets, the open source OS continues to pip its rivals at the post of popularity amongst the populace, growing steadily into an unstoppable operating system omnipresence.
A mystery meteor, four everyday nobodies transformed into supertypes and a barrage of baddies that not so much make up a crime wave but a crime tsunami, yes, it can only be the excellent, all-action, relentless runner that is Team Awesome. Check out our moves here.
Whether you want to find a party or, indeed, you are the party, now there’s a location sharing socialiser for your smartphone that keeps you constantly clued up as to where the most happening happening is happening. Get involved here.
Robots – they may not want to turn on their masters and overthrow us in a savage, bloody war that ravages the planet and leaves the human race decimated and horribly mutated, but why take that chance? Lock, load and Shoot Many Robots here and now!
Shock-proof, water-proof, dust-proof – it’s all very well, but what about something for overly enthusiastic leg-users who like to listen to music while getting the most out of pavements? Sweat-proof earphones, you say?
Ending the week on a bit of kit that’s far from shellfish with your smartphone sounds, the Oyster is not only a wireless way to make the most of your music, it also employs wave field synthesis. What’s that? Read on…
Scarlett Johansson. And on that bombshell it’s time to wind up proceedings here at the second-home of Android. I’m off now to see if I can claim my free pint in one sitting without the aid of medical intervention (I’ll do it responsibly, naturally), so join me here again on Monday when I’ll be reviewing online organ auction apps…
