The key idea behind Wii U, the touch screen controller, almost didn’t happen, Satou Iwata has revealed.
Speaking to The Telegraph, the Nintendo president explained that the idea for the new console was born out the idea to allow a game to be played while the rest of the family is using the telly. But: “Sometime during that final discussion we almost gave up on the idea of the additional screen.
“This was due to our concern over the expected high cost, it may not have been feasible to create this and sell it at a reasonable price point for the consumers.”
Here’s hoping that price point, whenever it’ll be announced, will indeed be reasonable then.
