While we won’t see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt getting exclusive digital content, whether it’s on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC, that doesn’t mean owners of a certain platform might not see some bonus physical content.
Witcher developer CD Projekt Red announced today an addition to the Xbox One Collector’s Edition of their upcoming role-playing game.
Within The Witcher 3‘s game world, there’s a playable card game – each Witcher title has had some kind of minigame – called Gwent. Gwent is, according to the press release, a fast-paced dueling card game invented by dwarves. The game features 150 cards and four factions.
While again, no version of The Witcher 3 will have exclusive content, Microsoft wanted to give Xbox One owners something exclusive to hold onto and, as such, has worked out a deal with CD Projekt Red to bring the game of Gwent to life, along with a cloth map of the game world. This is in addition, of course, to the already announced statue, medallion, artbook, game world compendium, and soundtrack that comes with the other editions.
Marcin Iwinski, Co-founder and Joint CEO of CD Projekt Red has the following to say:
Gwent is an amazing game and we’re really happy to be able to bring it to the physical realm with Microsoft’s help. Now we’ve got Gwent in every copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as an in-game experience for free on every platform, and a physical version in the Xbox One CE, how awesome is that?
It stands to reason that the PlayStation 4 edition might see its own exclusive content. I’m hoping for a replica of one of the monster heads Geralt hangs off his horse.
